The department's research focuses on topics concerning biodiversity research in higher and lower plants.
Currently, research is focused on the following areas:
inselbergs and adaptation strategies,
tropical botany in West Africa,
biodiversity research and nature conservation,
as well as phycology/hydrology.
Collaboration with WASCAL
Capacity building and research infrastructure strengthening in West Africa by supporting graduate programmes
